EU:n psykologisen partneriväkivallan lomake

Experiences with previous partners

There are usually both good and bad times in relationships. The following questions concern any previous partnerships you may have had. Did any of your previous partners ever:

  1. Try to keep you from seeing your friends?
  2. Try to restrict your contact with your family of birth or relatives?
  3. Insist on knowing where you are?
  4. Get angry if you speak with another man/woman?
  5. Become suspicious that you were unfaithful?
  6. Prevent you from making decisions about family finances and from shopping independently?
  7. Belittled or humiliated you in front of other people?
  8. Make threats concerning the custody of your children?
  9. Threatened to take the children away from you?

The most common forms of psychological violence involve a partner belittling or humiliating a woman
in private, insisting on knowing where she is in a way that goes beyond general concern, and getting
angry if she speaks to other men. One in four women has experienced each of these in their intimate
relationships.

One in three women (32 %) has experienced psychologically abusive behaviour by an intimate
partner, either by her current partner or a previous partner. This includes behaviour such as belittling
or humiliating the respondent in public or private; forbidding her to leave the house or locking her up;
making her watch pornographic material against her wishes; scaring or intimidating her on purpose;
and threatening her with violence or threatening to hurt someone else the respondent cares about.

Women are more likely to experience psychological abuse from their partner if he is a heavy alcohol abuser.

Recognising the potential controlling behaviour of an offender towards a victim in a case of intimate partner violence, EU  Member States are encouraged to ensure that immediate protection measures can be implemented by the police either without a request from the victim or with her consent.

SUOMENNOS TIIVISTETTYNÄ

Yllä luetellut 9 kohtaa psykologisesta partneriväkivallasta ovat tyypillisempiä naisten kuin miesten tekeminä, kuten uhkaaminen huoltajuuden menettämisestä, kavereiden tapaamisen estäminen, epäily uskottomuudesta tai vähättely muiden edessä.

Jos vastaava kysely tehtäisiin miehille, luultavasti noin 100 % parisuhteissa olleista miehistä havaittaisiin psykologisen partneriväkivallan uhreiksi.

Mikä pöyristyttävintä, raportti vaatii poliisia puuttumaan psykologiseen partneriväkivaltaan jopa ilman uhrin suostumusta.
